Happy Canada Day!

After we got done with classes on Wednesday afternoon, Lisa, Kelly & I decided to go to Byron Bay with a bunch of people to celebrate Canada Day with the Canadians. We went for a quick run, showered, and were on our way. Kate drove Brandon, Becca, Jayme, Kelly and me to Byron & boy was it an adventure! The roads are pretty narrow and really curvy…we almost hit a dog that was running on the road. I have not seen or ridden with an Aussie driver who does not drive crazy…they all do!! But we made it there alive thankfully. We stayed at Nomad’s Odyssey, a hostel that recently opened. It is cheaper than getting a hotel room…but you have a chance of staying in a room with complete strangers. All you pay for is the bed pretty much…our room had 6 beds. If your group only uses 4 of the beds, 2 strangers could book the other 2 beds in the room. Good thing our group filled 2 whole rooms, leaving no room for randoms. We went out to Cheeky Monkeys & CocoMangas. People had fake tattoos & body painting of the Canadian flag & maple leaves…it was pretty fun.

The next day us girls, Kelly, Lisa & myself decided to stay in Bryon for the day and lounge around. We laid out on the beach for a bit, then went shopping along the streets. We caught a bus back to Lismore for $12 each…pretty good deal. In Lismore, we shopped at the Lismore Square for a few groceries and outfits for Bling Night. Bling Night is the theme party at the UniBar for the month of July. One Thursday a month is a theme party and on the other Thursdays people usually go down to hang out.

Bling Night was actually pretty fun. We headed over to 21C to hang out with a bunch of people, then meandered down to Arlo’s house before making our way to UniBar. A lot of people wore clocks around their necks, like FlavaFlav…a weirdo from an MTV show. After UniBar a bunch of us headed downtown to go to a few pubs…The Standard and Mary Gilhooleys. All in all it was a pretty fun night.

HAPPY 17TH BIRTHDAY LITTLE BROTHER TANNER!!
